내 기억 속에 남은 가장 아름다운 소리는 무엇이었나요? 혹시 어떤 특별한 음악을, 아니면 해변에 밀려와 부딪히는 파도 소리를, 아니면 자녀들의 웃음소리를 사랑하시나요?
위의 소리들이 훌륭한 만큼이나, 첫 번째 성탄에 울려퍼진 천사들의 합창이야말로 이 땅에서 들을 수 있었던 가장 아름다운 소리였을 것입니다. 성탄 이야기는 예수님의 탄생을 선언하는 천사들의 이야기와, 탄생한 왕의 오심으로 인해 하나님을 경배하는 천사들의 이야기로 가득합니다. 하나님께서는 과연 믿을 수 없는 굉장한 일을 하셨습니다. 죄와 사망으로부터 인류를 구원하기 위해 그의 아들을 보내시며 그분과 함께 “땅에 평화”를 보내신 것입니다.
그들의 음성이 베들레헴에 메아리칠 때, 이 하나님의 전령들은 그들의 예배에 목자들이 참여하도록 초청했습니다. 목자들처럼 우리도 이 천상의 예배에 화음을 더할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다. 천사들처럼 우리도 예배에 참여하여 그리스도의 오심에 집중할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.
이 성탄의 계절은 우리의 구원자가 오셨다는 소식을 전할 최고의 기회입니다. 이 대강절에, ‘우리와 함께 하시는’ 임마누엘 하나님을 기뻐하며 천사들이 전해주는 좋은 소식에 우리의 목소리가 함께 울려 퍼지게 합시다. |
Reflection
What is the most beautiful sound you have ever heard? Do you love a specific piece of music, the pounding of waves crashing on the shore or perhaps the laughter of your child?
As wonderful as those sounds may be, the celestial chorus on that first Christmas must have been the most beautiful sound ever heard on Earth. The Christmas story is full of accounts of angels declaring the birth of Jesus and worshipping God for the advent of the newborn King. God had indeed done something incredible: He sent his Son and with Him “peace on earth” to save humanity from sin and death!
As their voices echoed through Bethlehem, these messengers of God invited shepherds to join them in adoration. May we, like the shepherds, be attuned to the celestial worship of heaven. May we, like the angels, engage in worship and bring attention to Christ’s coming.
There truly is no better time than the Christmas season to herald the arrival of our Redeemer. This Advent, let our voices resound with the good tidings of the angels, celebrating Immanuel, God with us. |
