As a run-up to the upcoming International Yoga Day, CGI Vancouver, on 30 May 202, organized a Lecture on Indian Heritage, Indian Philosophy, and the importance of Yoga in life by Mr. Jeffrey Armstrong, a renowned Vedic Scholar and the recipient of the Distinguished Indologist Award 2021 from the Government of India. Jeffrey Armstrong, also known as Kavindra Rishi, is a Canadian author, teacher, and founder of the Vedic Academy of Sciences & Arts (VASA). He is the author of several books on Vedic wisdom, including the best-selling “The Bhagavad Gita Comes Alive”. The lecture was attended by more than 80 people and well received. | |

UPI numbers hit all-time high in May, cross ₹25 trn for the first time
Transactions on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) touched an all-time high of 18.68 billion in volume and ₹25.14 trillion in value in May, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) data revealed on Sunday. The May numbers were up 4 per cent in volume and 5 per cent in value, compared to 17.89 billion and ₹23.95 trillion, respectively in April. India's FY25 growth holds firm, driven by construction and consumption; FY26 outlook steady
India's growth rate has been easing from the FY22 high to a projected 6.5% in FY25, but the overall GDP size continues to expand steadily. Industry body Assocham on Friday said India retained its position as the world's fastestgrowing major economy in 2024-25, with real GDP expanding 6.5%. Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) Anantha Nageswaran said that the Indian economy is performing well and may achieve a growth rate at the upper end of its 6.3-6.8 per cent projection, provided there are continued measures to promote foreign direct investment and an increase in capital investment by the private sector, along with boosted urban consumption.
